| Summary | 0001605: Request for kmod-saa7164 package for EL9 stock kernel | ||||
| Description | The saa7164 module is completely absent on Rocky Linux 9 / RHEL 9: - Stock kernel (5.14.x) – Red Hat disabled CONFIG_VIDEO_SAA7164 (and many other media drivers). - ELRepo kernel-lt 6.1.187-1.el9.elrepo.x86_64 – module still not built. - kmod-media-0.0-7.el9_8.elrepo – does not contain saa7164. Current status after installing kmod-media: modinfo saa7164 → Module not found find /lib/modules/$(uname -r) -name '*saa7164*' → empty I'm using Nvidia 470 from ELRepo so I believe the best option would be to add the saa7164 driver (and its dependencies) to the kmod-media package so it works against both the stock 5.14 kernels and kernel-lt. | ||||

I'll take a look at adding the saa7164 to kmod-media. @toracat: Can you look to add it to kernel-lt and kernel-ml? |

@Wintendo I have uploaded the following packages to the elrepo-testing repo: kmod-media-0.0-8.el9_8.elrepo.x86_64.rpm kmod-media-0.0-8.el9_8.elrepo.src.rpm dvb-firmware-20250629-1.el9.elrepo.noarch.rpm dvb-firmware-20250629-1.el9.elrepo.nosrc.rpm You can install it with: sudo dnf install --enablerepo elrepo-testing kmod-media Please let me know if these are working and if there are any other modules needed by your hardware. |

I missed this request in the latest release of kernel-ml/lt. Will try in the next kernel update. |

CONFIG_VIDEO_SAA7164 is now enabled in : kernel-ml-7.2.6-1.el9.elrepo kernel-lt-6.1.188-1.el9.elrepo |
