Note: The issue described here has been resolved by the updated module-init-tools-3.3-0.pre3.1.60.el5_5.1 package released on 2010-10-11. We would like to thank Jon Masters of Red Hat for his prompt help.
Due to the inadvertent application of an erroneous patch upstream, the updating of kmod packages is currently broken for Enterprise Linux 5.5 (el5.5).
Please see here for further information:
http://lists.elrepo.org/pipermail/elrepo/2010-May/000282.html
We have been working with the folks at Red Hat on a fix but it will not make an appearance until the release of Enterprise Linux 5.6 (el5.6). Until that time, we have developed a workaround for users of el5.5
The Workaround:
If you are updating an existing ELRepo kmod package on your el5.5 system, just update the module-init-tools package at the same time:
yum --disablerepo \* --enablerepo elrepo update module-init-tools kmod-foo
|
If you are installing any ELRepo kmod package for the very first time on your el5.5 system, update the module-init-tools package as the second step:
yum --disablerepo \* --enablerepo elrepo install kmod-foo
|
yum --disablerepo \* --enablerepo elrepo update module-init-tools
